Designed by team rider Dane Hanna to help him along his path of destruction on the racecourse, the Peligro is the board you need if you've got speed on your mind. The narrow standing platform and neatly integrated features work to keep your feet in the optimal position at all times and allow you to stay in your tuck more easily through tight sweepers and the compact wheelbase will let you put down some serious grip in the corners.

The Peligro is a compact downhill skateboard designed primarily for racing. It measures 31.6" long by 8.3" wide with a wheelbase of 21.5". It is narrower than our other race board in order to make tuck leaning through corners as easy and controllable as possible, while the wheelbase slots in between the Small Blind and Obsidian to give it the balance between agility and stability that Dane was looking for. Wheel flares in the front give you a little extra cornering leverage and allow for a little extra clearance when riding big wheels and a loose front truck for racing. We use 8 plies of Canadian Maple sandwiched between Carbon Fiber top and bottom to make this board exceptionally stiff torsionally for ultimate cornering performance. We set up this complete with our 2020 Bear Smokey Trucks for a stable yet agile ride and 77mm 76/90a Cheetah Hawgs for massive roll speed and grip.

FLEX RATING

So, what’s flex and why is it important to a skateboard? In skate-nerd terms, flex is the amount of displacement a deck sees when a specific amount of force is applied to it. Check out our formula to the left! There are a few factors that affect flex, like deck thickness, wheelbase, and the amount of force on a deck. We built a machine and put our entire lineup to the test by applying the exact same amount of force to all our boards and measured the displacement we saw in each. This gives a totally scientific and accurate flex range across our entire line! It’s important to understand flex when choosing a board. Here are some basics: Downhill/freeride skateboards will have less flex because you need a stiff platform to stand on when you’re bombing or gripping a corner at speed. Carving skateboards will have more flex, giving you the ability to sink into your turns and pump or carve with ease. Most cruisers, dance and ATV boards will have less flex for control when doing tricks but just enough to be forgiving when pushing around town. We’ve engineered our boards with the best flex for each style of riding but remember, flex is subjective so get out a see what you like the most!

We design our trucks and wheels to fit perfectly with each individual deck. We work tirelessly to ensure these elements come together to provide the best control and performance for your board. No slop, all control. Don’t accept anything less than the perfect complete.

Brand Story

Founded in 1997 in the basement of the Blackcomb Ski Club cabin by Tom Edstrand and Mike Perreten to provide a better way to get around campus, Landyachtz is a global leader in skateboard design and development. We believe in making quality skateboards that will improve your life. What started in a small basement has now grown to include a warehouse/head office in the East Vancouver neighbourhood of Strathcona with a retail store around the corner along a main bike route at 1146 Union St, shipping facilities in both East Vancouver and Los Angeles, and a small manufacturing facility in the Kootenay town of Kimberley, B.C. Today, Landyachtz has a global presence and has built strong relationships with important partners all over the world.

Landyachtz has always been focused on quality product innovation. Designing the best boards possible and developing the technology to do so has always been our focus. With co-founder Tom Edstrand being 2005 world champion, racing heavily influenced our early board designs and provided a great way for us to test new technologies. Landyachtz pioneered the drop foot platform, a design that remained synonymous with downhill for many years. The most famous drop-style downhill board in our lineup, the Evo, still holds the record for most world championship wins today. Boards aren't the only thing we developed though, Bear Trucks and Hawgs Wheels grew out of a need to pair our race decks with the best trucks and wheels we could. That's what our in-house engineers still do every day, constantly trying to refine our trucks and wheels so that they can be the best the industry can offer. As we developed technology for our race boards, we took what we learned there and applied it to the rest of our lineup to make our everyday boards as stable, fun, and functional as we could.
Community involvement has always been a core principle for us here at Landyachtz, our early years wouldn't have been possible without the Coast Longboarding community and its members. It's for this reason that we try to help grow communities everywhere we can. We've sponsored events around the globe, from races in Europe, to events in our own backyard like the legendary Attack of Danger Bay, and Giant's Head Freeride here in B.C.
